Traders speculate about mystery crypto exec behind alleged $10B divorce

A mystery crypto exec, said to be in the midst of a $10 billion divorce battle, may have found an unlikely ally and legal advisor in the form of controversial crypto mogul Justin Sun. Influencer @cryptobraveHQ claimed last week via X that the former boss of a top crypto exchange has undergone a divorce, according to “people close to the matter.”  The post, translated from Chinese, claimed the couple’s dividable assets exceed $10 billion and include crypto and various other assets that are still being totted up. Sun responded to this the post by offering to help protect the “legal rights and interests” of “one party,” telling them to contact him as soon as possible . https://t.co/07HA4tKoN4 — H.E. When is Binance founder CZ coming out of prison?

Image
This week, some Binance fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement that the exchange’s founder, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), was scheduled to complete his prison sentence on August 30. Unfortunately for them — and CZ — a quick fact-check reveals that he won’t actually be freed by that date. On April 30, US District Judge Richard Jones sentenced CZ to four months in a Seattle prison , recommending Seatac, a prison and administrative security federal detention center. Many observers apparently believed that CZ entered Seatac that same day, which would indeed have made August 30 his release date. However, CZ’s lawyers from prestigious law firms Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, Davis Wright Tremaine, and Latham & Watkins worked diligently to ensure that he earned a few extra weeks of freedom .  @cz_binance was sentenced to four months in prison on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. If he had started his jail time right away, his due date to be a free ...

Binance CEO announces recovery funds conversion from BUSD to 'native crypto'

Binance CEO says with recent “changes” in stablecoins and banks, the company’s recovery fund will be converted from BUSD to “native cryptos" such as BTC. The failure of three major crypto-backing banks, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), Silvergate Bank and Signature Bank caused the stablecoin (USDC) to fall to as low as $0.87 from its $1 benchmark.  Amid the concern mounting around stablecoins, Binance CEO and co-founder Changpeng (CZ) Zhao tweeted on March 13 that with the “changes in stablecoins and banks,” it will be converting the remaining $1 billion funds in its Industry Recovery Initiative into “native crypto." Given the changes in stable coins and banks, #Binance will convert the remaining of the $1 billion Industry Recovery Initiative funds from BUSD to native crypto, including #BTC, #BNB and ETH. Some fund movements will occur on-chain. Transparency. — CZ Binance (@cz_binance) March 13, 2023 The native cryptos listed by CZ included Bitcoin (BTC), Binance Coin (BNB) an...
